Our Shelter Support Program
Our Shelter Support Program (SSP) is designed to enrich the lives of shelter animals while they wait for their second chance. These 5-hour events give adoptable pets a moment to decompress, experience joy, and shine in their truest form. We help them feel seen—and help potential adopters really see them.
Animal welfare is in crisis: adoptions are down, intake numbers are up, and foster homes are harder than ever to find. Many incredible pets are struggling behind kennel doors, unable to “show well” through fear or stress. That’s where we come in—to create visibility, build trust, and offer hope.
Volunteers
Volunteers play a critical role in every Shelter Support Program day. Each person is paired with 1–3 dogs throughout the event, helping them rotate through various stations like grooming, photography, enrichment activities, pet massage, or the slatmill. When stations are full, volunteers spend time walking, playing, and simply being with the dogs—building trust and capturing who they are in different environments.Photos and videos taken by volunteers are shared in a group folder accessible to all involved—helping expand each pet’s reach online. At the end of the day, we ask volunteers to write a bio of each pup they spent time with. We polish them up and send them along to the shelter to use in adoption outreach.
Community Partners
Our community partners are essential to the success of each SSP day. Local groomers, photographers, enrichment providers, dog trainers, and small pet businesses donate their time, talents, and even products at times to help each dog feel—and look—like their very best self. Enrichment stations are often run by treat-makers or puzzle toy experts who bring joy, stimulation, and tail wags.
These businesses aren't just service providers—they're advocates. Their contributions help reduce kennel stress, increase adoptability, and offer a chance at a better life.
